Vast emptiness of a frozen lake

We're all just walking through life atop a frozen lake, either following others' footsteps and hoping they made it through safely, or not following anyone's footsteps hoping to find a treasure no one else found in uncharted areas, either way we're blinded by a veil of future and, currently, hoping that the global warming won't take away the one thing we think we have firmly beneath our feet.

And it's all much nicer when we don't have to go through it entirely on our own.
